    DESCRIPTIONS & INFORMATION

    The via ferrata "les prises de la Bastille" is THE via ferrata in Grenoble! Located at the foot of Fort de la Bastille in the Chartreuse massif, it's a 5-minute walk from Grenoble station or the city centre. Its accessibility and panoramic views make it a must for anyone living in Grenoble!

    This via ferrata has two very different sections, with a wide variety of workshops.

  • The first part is the easier of the two: a first pillar will allow you to gain height quickly before tackling a long traverse juggling rungs, wooden beams, sign points and Nepalese points.

  • The second part is more physical, with 3 possible outings of varying degrees of difficulty, depending on your level of fitness. The finish is at the very heart of the Bastille fort, with a breathtaking panorama of Grenoble and the Belledonne and Vercors ranges.

    • Minimum age: 10 years
    Approach walk: 1 minutes
    Return walk: 10 minutes (1st part) and 30 minutes (both parts)
    Duration: from 2h (1st part) to 3-4h (both parts)
    Period: from April to November

    Provided :
    VERTIC'O supplies all the equipment you need to progress safely: harness, helmet, via ferrata lanyards with shock absorbers and rope.
    All our equipment complies with PPE standards and is regularly checked.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    1Is it possible to do just part 1?
    Yes, no problem. The 2 sections are separate and separated by a 10-minute walk in the forest. You can also access the 2nd part directly from the bottom of the via ferrata.
    2What happens if I want to turn around?
    Turning around on a via ferrata is complicated, but on the first part we can easily lower you to the ground using a rope. The course is at a maximum height of 30m. The second part offers easier variants to get to the top, so don't panic!
    3Is the 2nd part really tough?
    It's more physical than the first, but it has 3 different variants (escape routes) of varying difficulty, all of which come together to finish at the summit!
    4Is this via ferrata suitable for beginners?
    The Bastille can very well be a first via ferrata. It has the advantage of having 2 different sections with the option of descending to the car park after the first. Only those with a severe fear of heights will be able to take full advantage of the 30m high ascent to the first pillar.

    I really like the fact that there are 2 parts. You can test yourself at the beginning and then challenge yourself in the second part by choosing difficult variations. There's a lot of fun to be had and it can also be hard on the arms! A very complete via ferrata that ends with this magnificent view "made in Grenoble" ;)
